19 July 2013

15th July 2013 marks the birthday of His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei. As always there were tons of celebration to mark the momentous day. On the evening there were prayers and dikirs’ held by the rakyat in local mosques and religious establishments.

His Majesty is now officially sixty seven years old. And it is over four decades since His Majesty inherited the crown from his father, the former Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin. His Majesty Sultan Bolkiah was then twenty one years old.

During his reign scores of noteworthy development has been proposed and implemented, ones which have centred around the national philosophy, Melayu Islam Beraja or Islamic Malay Sultanate.

Ensuing his rule, it has brought forth peace and stability for the nation. And just this year marks the Chairmanship of ASEAN by Brunei that saw so many countries transfixing and transcending their eyes and thoughts to the nation he rule, Brunei Darussalam.

It is also worthwhile to note that His Majesty’s Birthday this year fell on Islam’s holy month of Ramadhan or ‘Victory day’; that saw muslims around the world practise their fasting period this month. Fasting is one of five pillars of Islam, and what a celebration it is for Brunei as a whole.

One of the events that eventually culminate the celebration was His Majesty’s surprise visit to Pusat Tingkatan Enam Meragang(PTEM) happened just a month before. Students from PTEM were excited to see the King’s visit. His Majesty then toured around the ‘Rumah Rakyat Jati’, a benevolent housing scheme bestowed by the His Majesty’s government to the Rakyat.
